Drivers

  Warning

Ensure you use the driver that matches your printer's ink configuration. Any modifications to the ink settings should be approached with caution to prevent printer malfunctions. For additional assistance, please consult Mimaki's support.

Currently, the four drivers do not include the trimmer function. This feature will be added in future versions.

Driver history

  • CalderaRIP V18:
    • Mimaki CJV330 (VisualCut):
      • Correction of the file name/ID generation process, to avoid names with negative or incorrect values.
      • The capability to read horizontal intermediate marks in cutting jobs has been added to the driver.

          Info

Note that priority is given to vertical intermediate marks if there are any. If there are none, then the horizontal intermediate marks are selected.

  • CalderaRIP V17.3.1
    • Mimaki JV330 Series (4C and 8C drivers): Correction of a bug in WorkSpace and CalderaDock, which did not allow to view or download these drivers.
  • CalderaRIP V17.3
    • Mimaki-JV330-4c and 8c: We fixed a communication error (“ink requested by mode is not available on printer”) between the printer and the driver, which could occur when printing a job with S&R or several copies.
    • Mimaki-JV330-8c: Fixed a bug that did not allow the use of the 600x900 resolution (when using it, an error "Unable to send data to the printer" was generated in the Spooler).
    • Mimaki-JV330-4c: Fixed the "Can't open binary config [...]: Too many open files" error that appeared when the printer was offline for a long time.
    • Mimaki CJV330 (VisualCut driver): Fixed the cut marks precision to improve accuracy in production.
  • CalderaRIP V16.0.2

 Tips & tricks

Within the Server Administration module, you can choose your Mimaki driver and then click on "Configure". A new window will open with a tab called "Misc" where you will find a troubleshooting tool:

Mimaki-CJV330-Series-ServerAdmin.png

The Low-level reports are the log of the driver. If your driver presents unexpected behaviors, this feature is very useful to identify the problem.

Check the corresponding box to enable it and restart the driver to validate the changes (the software will prompt you for this).

Once the low-level reports are enabled, reproduce the issue and save the report. On the desktop of the RIP station, for example, use the following command in a terminal:

tar -czf ~/low_level_reports.tgz /tmp/mimaki4*

  Info

Low-level reports are wiped after a reboot.

Known Issue

After canceling a job from the panel or a crash, the USB communication between the printer and the computer might be in an incoherent state. If so, you should always be able to see the status, but trying to print a job will result in a job error.

Please stop the driver in the server administration, then disconnect the USB cable (from the computer side or printer side), clear the remaining data on the printer, and then reconnect the USB cable.

After canceling a job from the CalderaRIP, the data already sent to the printer is stored on it and can only be removed by switching the printer to the local state and clearing the data from the printer panel.

If the led on the panel is blinking when the printer is in a remote state, it means that some data will remain on the printer.
