How to install TeamViewer on your computer?

TeamViewer is a software that can be used by our Technical Support team to access your computer remotely in order to troubleshoot you in the best way possible.

TeamViewer installation on macOS

Continue reading or watch the following video:

1. Download the latest version of TeamViewer for macOS from their website.

2. Install TeamViewer by double-clicking the downloaded DMG file:

If a security alert appears, click "Open" to start the installation:

3. Follow the wizard or this guide from their support page. 

4. Launch TeamViewer and send us your TeamViewer ID and password.

Permissions Required (starting from macOS 10.14 Mojave)

Starting from On macOS 10.14 (Mojave), you must grant specific permissions to TeamViewer so the Technical Support team can access your computer remotely.

In most cases, a pop-up will appear asking you to Open System Preferences but you can also do it manually:

On macOS 10.14 (Mojave)

  1. Go to System Preferences, then to Security & Privacy:

  2. Here, you will need to grant 3 permissions: Accessibility, Screen Recording, and Full Disk Access.
  3. Go to Screen Recording first. Open the lock, Check TeamViewer, and finally Close the lock:

  4. Repeat the previous process for Accessibility and Full Disk Access:

On macOS 13.X (Ventura)

  1. Go to System Preferences, then to Privacy & Security:

  2. Here, you will need to grant 2 permissions: Accessibility, and Screen Recording. In both cases, enable TeamViewer. Your computer login will be required each time.

TeamViewer installation on Linux

(General installation on most Linux systems)

1. Download the latest version of TeamViewer for Linux from their website (choose the "64-bit" package).

2. Once the download is done, double-click or right-click on the installation package and select the Package Manager (e.g. Open with software installation, Open with GDebi package installer, Open with Ubuntu Software Center, or Open with QApt package installer, etc.).

3. Follow the wizard or this guide from their support page.

3. Launch TeamViewer and send us your TeamViewer ID and password.

 

TeamViewer installation on Linux Debian

Linux Debian 10 (Buster)

0. Check that you have set the right repositories. You might want to read:

1. Download the latest version of TeamViewer for Linux Debian from their website (choose the "64-bit" package).

2. Once the download is done, double-click on the .deb file to install it:

On some stations, double-clicking may not work or there may be no .deb Package Manager:

In these cases, you will have to access the Console.

3. (Optional) Open the Console:

  • Type su - and press Enter to get root credentials.
  • Type apt install and drag/drop the .deb Teamviewer installer file:

  • Press Enter. The script will ask you to confirm installation by pressing Y and then Enter:

If the previous step does not work, it means that a packet was not installed correctly (and apt install generates a broken status). Try again by typing:

  • sudo apt-get update

  • sudo apt-get install -f

  • sudo apt-get install --fix-broken install

This will allow the reinstallation of TeamViewer.deb (by redoing Step 3)

  • The installation will be finished at this point:

4. Launch TeamViewer (you will find it at Applications -> Internet -> Teamviewer). Note that the first launch will prompt you to "Accept the License Agreement":

5. Send us your TeamViewer ID and password.

Linux Debian 9 (Stretch) or older

1. Download the latest version of TeamViewer for Linux Debian from their website (choose the "64-bit" package).

You can also use the package for version 13 attached to this article if needed (please be aware that the latest versions of Teamviewer may not work with old operating systems).

2. Once the download is done, right-click the downloaded zip file and choose Extract Here. This should create a newly extracted TeamViewer folder:

3. Open the TeamViewer folder and double-click the TeamViewer Installer to install:

4. Once TeamViewer is installed, launch it (you will find it at Applications -> Internet -> Teamviewer).

5. Send us your TeamViewer ID and password.

 

TeamViewer installation on Windows

1. Download the latest version of TeamViewer for Windows from their website.

2. Once the download is done, double-click or right-click on the installation file to open it.

3. Follow the wizard or this guide from their support page. 

4. Launch TeamViewer and send us your TeamViewer ID and password.
