How to preset your devices?

You can assign multiple presets to each device. 

Presets are managed in Settings > Devices & Presets. From this tab, you can create/edit/delete devices, presets, and media.

Dependence between devices, presets and media

• A device can have multiple presets.
• Preset lists for each device are independent.
• Spectrophotometer presets are different from printer presets.
• The media list is independent.
• Each printer preset is associated with a media from the media list.

Create/Edit a preset

1. Go to Settings > Devices & Presets.
2. Select a device and the preset column will appear. 
3. Click on   to add a new preset (or select one to edit it).
4. Configure a preset.

3. Configure the Main settings.

   The options you will see depend on each model. For more details on these model-specific parameters, please refer to the articles dedicated to the printer driver here.

4. (Optional) Configure the White settings. These are only available when using an inkset with White undercoat ink.

5. Custom droplet management or Variable dot (depending on your version):

   (Optional) The latest versions include a pop-up window that allows you to globally adjust the size of the ink drops as well as override the values for each ink if necessary.

   Configure the Variable dot. This area allows you to choose between different dot size combinations (e.g., small and medium, or medium and large), which globally adjust the size of the ink droplets, providing control over the quality and detail of the print.
   Smaller dots provide finer detail, while larger dots improve ink coverage and opacity.
    

     Warning

   The Dot size set manual field is reserved for experienced operators, as the values of each dot size can be modified following the JSON formatting syntax, e.g. [ { “value”: 1, “ratio”: 1.5, “limit”: 0.3 }, … ]

6. (Optional) Print size compensation. Works as a hardware compensation tool that applies a vertical and horizontal scaling factor (going from -50% to +50% of the print size, with a 0.01% step).

     Tips & tricks

   Print size compensation is useful when you get noticeable differences in the prints, even if you use the same file on each job. The previous case may be due to physical changes in the media used, caused by the temperature, humidity, batch, age, etc. A common example of this is when working with vinyl or textiles, for instance, since the heat generated by the printer can cause these media to "shrink" a little during printing.

7. (Optional) Add a Linearization.
8. (Optional) Add an Ink limit.
9. (Optional but highly recommended) Add a Color profile.

10. (Optional) Color bars ink quantity: Select the ink percentage for the color bars.

      Info

    The color bars only show “CMYK” inks. NColor and/or White do not appear in the color bar but will be generated/printed correctly.

11. (Optional) Give your preset a description.

12. Give your preset a name to easily identify it in the list.

      Tips & tricks

    Click   to automatically create a preset name using the following template: Resolution X x Resolution Y Colors Bits per plane.

13. Click on Save .

Spectrophotometer preset

3. Give your preset a name to easily identify it in the list.

     Tips & tricks

   Click   to automatically create a preset name using the following template: Illumination condition Reading mode scan by Scan method.

4. Click on Save .

Find and filter presets

Search

The search bar allows you to find a preset associated with the selected device by typing its name.

Sort

You can sort devices in ascending or descending order by clicking on the arrows  .

Duplicate a preset

1. Go to Settings > Devices & Presets.
2. Select a device, the preset column will appear. 
3. Hover over a preset in the list. Click   then  Duplicate.

Import/Export presets

This feature is available for printers only. This allows you to save the preset of your printer.

The backup file for a preset is a TGZ file that contains all the main printer settings that are associated with a media.

Go to Settings > Devices & Presets.

Export one preset

Hover over a preset in the list. Click   then Export.

Export several presets

Hover over a preset in the list. A check box will appear. Select all presets you want to export, then click on . All selected presets will be saved in a single backup file.

Import a backup file for a preset

Click on to import a backup file.

• If a media does not exist in the software, it will be created automatically.
• If an imported preset has the same name as an existing preset, it is automatically renamed so as not to overwrite the existing one.

Hover over a device in the list. Click   then click on  Delete.

Delete several devices

1. Hover the cursor over the device icon and select it.
2. Or, click on the "Select all" option that appears above the list.
3. Click .
