How to measure with external Barbieri Spectro LFP qb?

Caldera DTX is not yet compatible with Barbieri spectrophotometers. Here is a way to use them with another software.

In a nutshell, it is a 3 steps process:

  1. Print the target in DTX

  2. Read without auto-detection in Barbieri Gateway or CalderaRIP

  3. Import the CGATS measurement file in DTX

The following process is an example of linearization but can also be used for profiling.

Print Target

In Caldera DTX:

  1. Go to Settings/Devices & Presets.

  2. Select a Device in the list (or add one).

  3. Select a Preset in the list (or add one).

  4. Activate Linearisation.

  5. Click on the Measure button:

  6. Select an X-Rite spectro Device (we recommend i1Pro3 Plus) and any condition (or create a Spectro and a measurement condition).

  7. Print:

Manual Reading

With CalderaRIP

In EasyMedia:

  1. You can select any "CMYK+1N" color set on any printer/media configuration.

  2. Use manual detection.

  3. Position the 3 corners (the two top at 1.8mm from the top first line) using the keyboard arrows (MAJ-arrows to move faster):

  4. The CGATS file will be located in your user directory:
~/Easy/.../ARCHIVES/CalderaJet_MTSB_100x100_CMYKR_2p.2.lin.lect

With Barbieri Gateway

In Barbieri Gateway software:

  1. Select Chart Measurement and click on New Job:

  2. Go to 3rd Party Software, select Caldera Linearization QuickCal_05, and make a new chart:
    Capture d’écran 2023-12-13 à 11.36.34 AM.png

  3. Right Click on the generated chart and select edit job:
    Capture d’écran 2023-12-13 à 11.37.08 AM.png

  4. Increase the Number of Patches Y to 5 (to match the white line):

  5. Make sure to Use Manual Positioning and an 8mm aperture for textiles:Capture d’écran 2023-12-13 à 11.37.51 AM.png

  6. Make sure to remember the proper path to get the measurement file afterwise and select at least Spectral values with the default Barbieri - Horizontal file format that is CGATS:
    Capture d’écran 2023-12-13 à 11.38.16 AM.png

  7. No need for a reference file, so click yes if asked:
    Capture d’écran 2023-12-13 à 11.38.22 AM.png

  8. We recommend using "Position on corners", then moving the head using the scrollbars for the 3 corners: Capture d’écran 2023-12-13 à 11.39.29 AM.png

  9. Click on the double right arrow on the bottom right to start the measurement and wait for the process to complete:
    Capture d’écran 2023-12-13 à 11.42.41 AM.png

  10. Note that if you choose an 8 mm aperture (better for textile measurement), you can have this warning below. Just click ok on each line to continue the measurement: Capture d’écran 2023-12-13 à 11.42.47 AM.png

  11. The file to use is called something like:
Chart-1-2023121311420000.spd.txt

Import

In Caldera DTX, select the CGATS file to import and continue the process:
