How to share a cutter through the Client-Server Architecture?

With CalderaRIP it is possible to add and manage cutters in your Client-Server architecture.

For example, if a roll-to-roll cutter is installed in the Solvent department, the cutter can be plugged into the same local network and this will make it visible to all Users:

  • Users 1 and 2 submit cut files to the devices illustrated in this example. 

 

  • The Solvent department is in charge of the whole production.

 

Steps to configure and share your cutter

CalderaRIP supports a long list of cutters through direct access (VisualCut for Roll cutters) or via a driver (GrandCut for Flatbed cutters). 

To configure your cutter from User 1, but available for User 2 too, follow these steps:

The following steps are an example of a VisualCut device installation.

  1. Open the Config module to install the cutter's driver:

  2. Click New then select Cutter in the type field:

  3. Name your cutter. In this example, "Cutter-1":

  4. Click Configure then click New in the window that appears:

  5. In the Cutter parameters window, select your cutter's model:

  6. In the Queue field, you should locate and select a shared folder available on both workstations:

  7. If applicable, make sure you also have set correctly the hostname. Click OK.

  8. Restart the software to Apply changes.

  9. Now, you can see the cutter icon displayed in the ApplicationBar:

  10. Now follow the same steps to set up the cutter for User 2.
