How to use Chinese, Japanese or Korean as input in CalderaRIP?

This procedure is compatible with Linux Debian 8 (Jessie) and macOS 10 (Yosemite) or later.

To effectively work with text in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean within CalderaRIP, it is essential to enable the appropriate input methods. Please follow the steps outlined below to set up Chinese, Japanese, or Korean input.

All users who wish to use Chinese, Japanese, or Korean input on the same workstation must follow this procedure.

  1. Download this calpatch and copy it on your workstation.
  2. Double-click on the calpatch.
  3. Follow the instructions to perform the calpatch installation:

  4. You need then to configure the IBus. Double-click on the IBus Setup icon:

  5. It opens the IBus Preferences window. Click on the ellipsis button [...] next to the field "Next input method":

  6. In the following window, remove the Keyboard shortcuts <Super>space: select it and click Delete:

  7. Then, add a new Keyboard shortcut using <Control>space: select Control as Modifiers and click Add:

  8. Click OK to close the window. Then, go to the Input Method tab:

  9. There, click Add to add a new input method:

  10. Select the input method you want to add. Click on the panel icon to display more languages:

  11. If several input methods exist for the same language, as in our example, please select the one you want and click Add:

  12. When you have installed all the input methods you want, click Close and reboot the workstation.

      Warning

    Please note that for Korean input, you may need to click on Preferences to activate 'Start in Hangul mode.' This setting will prompt you to use Korean words when switching to Korean input. If this option is not enabled, you will need to press the Hangul toggle key to switch from the Latin alphabet to Korean characters.

  13. After the reboot, you will be able to switch between your input languages in CalderaRIP:

  14. This means you can then start to use Chinese, Japanese, or Korean in your CalderaRIP.
    In this example, we used it on the Page Setup > Marks tab > Annotations.
    Press Space to accept the Chinese characters. For Korean and Japanese, press Enter:
