Set up of the Konica Minolta's FD-S2w Measurement Utility Software

Pre-Requisites

  • Konica Minolta's FD-S2w Measurement Utility Software: 
    • Click here, go to the Legacy software area, and download it for free
    • Click here to consult the user manual
  • Additional FD-S2w files and templates for CalderaRIP:
  • CalderaRIP V11 or later 

 

Set up

If this is the first time you launch FD-S2w, you need to configure it.

1- Click on SETTINGS / Instrument Connection (the configuration has to be done only once):

2- Depending on the connection you choose, select USB or enter the IP address previously set in the FD-9:

3- Once the device is connected, select SETTINGS / Measurement Option:

4- Select the following parameters:

  • Confirm chart recognition result before the start of measurement.
  • Select “Automatic data export”: create a network drive mapped to the Public folder from CalderaRIP. This way, FD-S2w will automatically export the measurement into the Public folder.
  • Select “Use conditions at right” and please make sure to select:
    • Deactivate Density
    • Activate only colorspace
    • Activate Spectral Data
    • Activate only M1 as measurement condition (or M2 / M0 depending on your
      needs)
  • Use the Data List name.
  • Format: Please use CGATS txt File (*.txt)

 

5- Once the device is connected, select SETTINGS / Measurement Option:

6- Select the following parameters:

  • Color space: CMYK
  • Measurement area
  • Language: your language

 

7- Please now unzip the folder "FD-S2w Templates for Caldera package v5"

 

8- In FD-S2w, select FILE / Open Chart File:

9- Open the .xml file corresponding to the test chart printed in CalderaRIP (Once the .xml file is opened, there is no need to open it again for future measurements of the same chart).

 

10- Once the .xml file is loaded, you have an overview of the test chart:

11- On the left side, you see the imported .xml file corresponding to the chart
you want to measure.
