This "Broken installation, missing install file" error can occur on several versions of macOS:
Explanation
The system may place software in quarantine, which can prevent it from functioning properly. To ensure the integrity of the installation, verify the MD5 checksum of the DMG installer file.
For guidance on checking MD5 checksums, please refer to the following article:
If reinstalling with the correct DMG file does not resolve the issue and no other solutions have worked, you can try the following steps.
Solution
- Open a Terminal.
- Obtain root credentials by typing:
sudo -s
You will be prompted to enter your Mac administrator password. If you have removed the password, pressing Enter will not work; you will need to redefine a new password. - Type the following command:
xattr -c /Your-Application
A simpler method is to typexattr -c, then drag and drop your application file into the Terminal. For example, you can use the DMG installer file of V13.1: - Press Enter.
- Your application should now work again.
