How to configure a printer using file sharing over the network? (File connection)

This article provides a step-by-step guide on configuring a printer driver to use file sharing over the network (commonly used with flatbed printers). Continue reading, or watch this video:

 

  1. First, you must mount the RIP computer to the intended shared folder.

  2. Open CalderaRIP.

  3. Go to the Settings tab and click on the ServerAdmin icon:

  4. When the Server Administration opens, select the printer and click on Configure... 

  5. A new window will open, directly in the Connection tab. If not set by default, select File as the connection type.

  6. Now, go to the Files tab.

  7. Next to the Root field, click on the Ellipsis button ).

  8. A file explorer will open. Click on the Network folder icon ):

  9. Once the designated shared folder is located and selected, click Open.

  10. Finally, click Proceed and enter your administration password (most probably "caldera") to save the changes.
