This article will show you how to configure a printer driver using a USB connection type, common with certain models of Mimaki printers. USB connection is a plug-and-play type of connection and requires little or no additional configuration.
Depending on the model of the printer, USB connection type can be used only when the printer allows a RawIP connection (if ethernet is supported). Some Mimaki printers will have an ethernet port, however, it is used to update the printer's firmware only. Please refer to the printer's Operations Manual on which you will find the connection type your printer supports.
- Open the Servers Administration Window in Caldera.
- Select the printer (Mimaki-UCJV300 is the example used) then click on Configure.
- Under the Mimaki Configuration window, make sure the Connection is set to "USB" (should already be USB by default)
- Click Proceed to finish then enter Caldera administrative password: "caldera".
Info
Certain printers will require the "device serial number".
Switch from USB connection type to RawIP
If your Mimaki supports ethernet connection, you will need to switch the connection type from USB to RawIP. To do so:
- Switch the Connection to "RawIP" and then replace "localhost" with the IP address assigned to the printer and then click on Proceed.
