Using NFS Manager with Durst Printers

This article outlines the steps for utilizing the third-party application NFS Manager to manage connections between macOS systems and Durst printers.

  Warning

NFS Manager is a paid application and is not officially supported by Caldera. The following information serves as a workaround that has been successful for some users.

Configuration Steps (macOS Catalina and Newer)

  1. IP Address Setup
    • Ensure that this IP address is accessible from your Mac.
    • In this example, we will assume that 192.168.35.90 is the IP address of the Durst Controller (please note that this may vary).
  2. NFS Share Path
    • Set the NFS share path to /mnt/images
    • In this example, we will use the Rho320 printer
  3. Authentication

    • Click on the "Not Authenticated" padlock icon.
    • Enter the Mac's admin username and password.

  4. Adding the Durst Controller
    • Click the + icon to add the Durst controller. Edit the following fields:
      mceclip1.png
      • NFS Server: Enter the printer controller's IP address.
      • Share Path: Input /mnt/images
      • Use predefined folder: Add /System/Volumes/Data/mnt/Rho320
        • This will dynamically create the folder needed.
      • Uncheck the "Mount as read-only" option.
  5. Testing the Configuration
    • Once completed, click "Trigger selected mount now".
    • If configured correctly, a Finder window displaying the Durst NFS share should open:

  6. Configuring CalderaRIP
    • In CalderaRIP, set the driver to use the path /System/Volumes/Data/mnt/Rho320
      • Settings Tab > ServerAdmin > Select the printer > Configure > Files Tab:

Configuration Steps (older macOS versions)

  1. Create Mount Point in CalderaRIP
    • Use a mount point that matches the printer model. For example, RHO320 (case-sensitive).
    • Open the Terminal (found in the Utilities folder) and type the following command:
      sudo mkdir /mnt/RHO320
      • The password is "caldera" (or the Mac's administrator password).
    • This command creates a folder at /mnt/RHO320
  2. NFS Manager Configuration
    • In NFS Manager, set up the following:
      Image_2.png
      • NFS Server: The Durst printer's IP address (e.g., 192.168.35.90).
      • Share Path: The location of the share on Durst (usually /mnt/images).
      • Mount Point: The mount point created earlier (/mnt/RHO320).
      • Options: Check "Use secure communication ports".
  3. Finalizing CalderaRIP Configuration
    • Configure the new mount point in the CalderaRIP Durst printer driver:
      • Settings Tab > ServerAdmin > Select the printer > Configure > Files Tab (Directory path is case-sensitive):
