The automatic file deletion feature in Workflows and/or Hotfolders ensures processed files are removed immediately after completion. This helps streamline your production and manage storage efficiently. In this article, we’ll cover how to enable and use this feature.
How does it work?
Options for Delete image after processing via Workflows are:
- Always: Deletes the image from the Image bar and the file after the printing is complete, whatever the origin of the file is.
- From hotfolder: Deletes the image from the Image bar and the file after the printing is complete, only if the image came from a hotfolder.
- Never: This option does not delete the image.
How to enable it?
File deletion can be enabled in the Workflow editor (a legacy option), but also in the Hotfolder settings:
1. Open the Workflow editor windows by double-clicking its icon in the Application Bar:
2. Select "Always" (which will always delete your image after processing the workflow):
1. Go to the Special menu of the Application Bar and click Hotfolder to open the configuration window:
2. Once the Hotfolder window is opened, click "Edit".
3. Select the post-processing action wanted and click "OK" (you can either delete a file, preserve it, or "Use workflow settings" (the legacy option explained before).
Considerations
As you have just seen if you want to activate file deletion via HotFolders you can use the settings already selected in the Workflow, delete the files, or preserve them.
About the Preserve files option: Please note that if the image is deleted from the Image bar, it will not be preserved. The deletion options in HotFolder are designed mainly for workflows.
In CalderaRIP V17, the menus of the Application Bar were changed. Depending on your version, you may see them as follows:
The steps before were documented using an older version, so the settings are found in the Special menu (instead of in the Configuration menu as in recent versions).
