HP Latex 700W / 800W - How to use the Spot quality mode?

In this article, we will show you how to use the Spot quality modes for HP Latex 700W / 800W devices.

To do this, we will use a ready-made PDF file containing a white spot and print it on a substrate compatible with Spot quality modes called “My custom film”.

Step 1: Create a new substrate in your printer

First, you must create a new custom substrate using the HP Latex 700W / 800W printer's panel.

Learn more about spot quality modes and how to add custom substrates directly from HP's documentation (Chapter 3: Handle the substrate, and Chapter 9.7: Printing with white ink).

Step 2: Load the PDF file

Step 3: Configure the job

  • Launch the Print module of your HP Latex 700W / 800W.
  • Select the Media named "My custom film".
  • Select the Resolution 600.
  • Select the Mode CMYK8.
  • Select the Quality Spot (SP) (number 1 on the image).
  • Go to the Page Setup (2).
  • Go to the White tab, click on Enable Separation, and choose the Method: "Use a Spot Color"  (3):
