How to reset a printer driver?

Printing issues can sometimes result from a malfunction in the printer driver’s configuration file. Performing a reset can restore the driver to its default state and resolve these issues.

What types of problems can a driver reset solve?

  • Random errors with print jobs
  • Missing or incorrect margins
  • Completely inaccurate colors
  • Distortion in prints or issues with cut files

 

Steps to reset a printer driver

  1. First, save the printer configuration (preset). To do so, go to the preset management area in the Print Module:

  2. Once you have saved the configuration of your printer driver, close the Print Module.
  3. Now you must stop the printer driver from running. In the Application bar, go to the Settings tab and then click the ServerAdmin icon: ServerAdmin.png

  4. Select your printer driver, and click on the Stop Server button:

  5. A confirmation will appear. Click Yes and enter your administration password (most probably "caldera") to apply the stop. Close the ServerAdmin.

  6. Still in the Settings tab, now click on the Config icon.

  7. The software configuration will appear. Select your printer driver and click on the Reset Configuration button:

  8. A confirmation will appear. Click Yes.

  9. Quit the software configuration. A dialog will prompt you to save the modifications before quitting. Click Save and quit.

  10. In the Application bar, go to the Main tab and then click on your printer driver's icon (or drag and drop a file on it).

  11. Reconfigure the Print module, or import the saved presets, and test the printing.
