Signal 11 errors or unknown bravo errors while loading or ripping a PDF file

Issue:

When loading a complex PDF (Lots of Vector's or Transparency layers) one could get a signal 11, unknown bravo, or IImpACRJobManager error.

Same is true when one would rip a file (file might load fine though).

Problem:

Due to the complexity of the file the Adobe PDF Print Engine could crash when using the current flattener version.

First upgrade to the latest version and the latest build of your software as this changes the flattening behavior for loading and printing as it will automatically try the different options.

If still issues, proceed to the next section of this FAQ and try to force the specific settings.

Also consider supplying Caldera support with a problem file for review.

Solution:

In the APPE Configuration the flattening behavior (different version of the flatner can be selected). Keep in mind that Caldera Debian 2.x use Adobe PDF Print Engine version 3 and Debian 8.6/8.8 uses APPE version 4. Mac based installs use APPE version 4 from version 11.x. Version 12 uses APPE version 5.

PDF files which fail to load try first Standard and if it still fails select Global under the Flattening Behavior for Preview. Newer Caldera versions have the Auto-Select option and will try Global/Standard automatically.

If a PDF fails during ripping then change the Flattening Behavior for Printing from Standard to Global or vice versa.

(Options like Global 1 or Global 2 apply to older Caldera versions).

Detailed descriptions of each of these options are available when the mouse pointer moves over the option.

If you are experiencing signal 11 errors when nesting, also make sure to go to Settings -> ServerAdmin -> select the printer -> Configure -> Nest-O-Matik -> set the action to RIP then Print:
