When attempting to open a PDF with unusual characters, FileMan may display the error messages "PDF (Broken)" or "PDF (Protected)":
Users of older versions of CalderaRIP might work around the issue by using Ghostscript as the PDF engine to load the file correctly. However, this option was removed in CalderaRIP V19.
Issue
Certain characters, such as the dollar sign ($), can prevent the Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE) from loading a file.
Solution
Rename the file to eliminate any problematic characters. For example, remove the dollar sign ($) from the filename:
