Summa - Autocut for OPOS CAM

The following features, which were previously included in the legacy VisualCut option, are now included in annual CalderaRIP subscriptions and perpetual licenses with CalderaCare.

Partners and resellers should consult the Partners Portal for details; end-users can find information on our website.

CalderaRIP supports the OPOS CAM feature, but not as a direct integration. To use this workflow, a Windows PC running the OPOS CAM software is required, and the VisualCut Interface must be configured in CalderaRIP.

In this setup, CalderaRIP does not drive the cutter directly via USB or LAN. Instead, the cutting process is managed through the Windows-based OPOS CAM software.

Below is an example of the Summa Cutter Control software used for OPOS CAM on Windows:

Configuration in VisualCut

  1. In the Connection area, set the parameters as following:

    • Type: File
    • Host: path of the shared folder on the OPOS CAM controller

      Warning

The Path field for Caldera cut files needs to be locally mapped and should NOT be the same as path set in the Host field.

    • Path: map to local
    • Host: map to the shared folder with the OPOS CAM controller
  2. In the Settings area, supported Positionings are:

    • Single with marks
    • None

  3. When Cut using VisualCut, Caldera will generate 2 .dmp cut files required by the OPOS CAM:
    • one with 0 degrees rotation
    • and another one with 180 degrees rotation

Autocut

The Autocut feature automatically generates .dmp cut files for OPOS CAM in the folder specified in the Host field.

Each time the job queue is polled, any jobs that have not yet been cut are processed. As a result, newly printed jobs will be handled automatically, without requiring manual intervention in the VisualCut Interface:

You can reset the number of already done copies by pushing Reset copies. This will allow to regenerate a lost .dmp file as well, since only jobs with a number of already done copies of 0 are processed:
