The following features, which were previously included in the legacy VisualCut option, are now included in annual CalderaRIP subscriptions and perpetual licenses with CalderaCare.
Partners and resellers should consult the Partners Portal for details; end-users can find information on our website.
The FlexCut principle is based on a perforated cut, where the cutter alternates between full and reduced pressure cuts. This creates small uncut sections that hold the material in place while allowing the finished shapes to be easily separated:
FlexCut Mode 2 is the Summa‑recommended mode for most cutting jobs.
FlexCut parameters such as:
- Full pressure (Force);
- Full pressure cut length;
- Flex pressure cut length;
- Flex cut pressure (Dash Force);
Can be configured either directly on the cutter or within CalderaRIP (refer to the Summa manual for full details).
The Cut length and Flex length values can be set in CalderaRIP when defining the Tool type and selecting the Line type.
If the Line type is set to "User Specified", the cutter will use the cut/up parameters configured on the cutter’s control panel:
Info
Disable Force and Dash Force in CalderaRIP when setting the Full Pressure and Flex cut pressure on the cutter.
Recommendations
Original file
The original file must be created with a cut contour for each specific tool "Flexcut", KissCut", etc.

Tool Configuration
- In CalderaRIP don't forget to assign the correct tool type to the specific FlexCut cutcontour:
- FlexCut tools must always be at the bottom of the tools list.
Multiple Flex Tools
When multiple Flex tools are configured, be aware that the Flex pressure setting of the first Flex tool is being used. Work around is to define a media specific tool set and save.
Other pressure and speed settings are not affected by this limitation.
Panelling
Activate the paneling option to avoid up and down feeding of the cut sheet.
Info
This option is available with the following drivers:
- Summa S2 (panelling)
- Summa S2 Postnet (panelling)
- Summa S3 Postnet
