This article outlines how to reset the administration password for the CalderaRIP graphical interface.
Good to know
This information may be useful if you have changed the default "caldera" administration password in ServerAdmin (ServerAdmin > Setup > Change password), and no longer remember it.
Method 1: Reset via Terminal (Recommended)
- If open, close CalderaRIP.
- Open Terminal.

Run the following command:
sudo rm /opt/caldera/lib/calpwd - When prompted, enter your computer administrator password (the password you use to log in to the computer):
- Then, press Enter.
- Launch CalderaRIP again. The interface password is reset to "caldera" (case-sensitive).
Method 2: Reset by Deleting the Password File Manually
If the Terminal method does not work, delete the password file manually.
Linux (Caldera Linux-based install)
- If open, close CalderaRIP.
- Open CalderaDock. If you don't have the application yet, get the latest version at WorkSpace. Need help with the installation? Click here.
- Open the "Root Explorer" utility to access the file browser with administrative rights.

Navigate to:
/opt/caldera/lib/ - Delete the file:
calpwd - Launch CalderaRIP again. The interface password is reset to "caldera" (case-sensitive).
macOS
- If open, close CalderaRIP.

In Finder, navigate to:
/opt/caldera/lib/ - Delete the file :
calpwd(You may be prompted for the macOS administrator password) - Launch CalderaRIP again. The interface password is reset to "caldera" (case-sensitive).
