Uninstallation on macOS
Using the installation file
To uninstall CalderaRIP on macOS, begin by launching the CalderaRIP installer file for the version currently installed. On the second page, after selecting your language, click the "Uninstall" button instead of "Install" to proceed with the uninstallation.
Files to be deleted manually
After the uninstallation process, manually check for and remove the Caldera user account (if it still exists) by navigating to System Preferences > Users & Groups.
To ensure a complete removal of CalderaRIP, also delete the following folders:
- The hidden .cas folder located in the user's home directory.
- /opt/caldera
- /Library/WebServer/Caldera
- /CALDERADATA
Uninstalling Without the Installer
If you need to remove CalderaRIP without using the installer, follow these steps:
- Remove the Caldera user from Apple > System Preferences > Users & Groups.
- Reboot your system.
- Delete the following folders (if they are still present):
- /var/db/calinst (contains "history files" in V11 or earlier)
- /usr/lib/inst/ (current "history files")
- /opt/caldera
- /CALDERADATA/
- /Library/WebServer/Caldera
- /Library/LaunchDaemons/ (remove the files inside this folder that start with fr.caldera)
- The hidden .cas folder in the user's home directory.
Removing XQuartz

Since CalderaRIP is a Unix-based application, it relies on XQuartz to provide a graphical user interface (GUI) for macOS systems. Therefore, XQuartz will be automatically installed alongside CalderaRIP on macOS.
To uninstall XQuartz, simply drag and drop it into the Trash (it is located in the Utilities folder):
The system will prompt you to enter your administrator credentials. Finally, reboot your system again to complete the uninstallation process.

To manually uninstalling CalderaRIP on Ubuntu is straightforward. You can use the Terminal to remove the software. Follow these steps:
- Open a Terminal window.
- Type the following command to remove CalderaRIP:
sudo apt-get remove caldera - If you want to remove any configuration files associated with Caldera, you can use:
sudo apt-get purge caldera -
To ensure all dependencies that are no longer needed are removed, run:
sudo apt-get autoremove
After completing these steps, CalderaRIP will be uninstalled from your Ubuntu system.
