How to manually recover/rebuild media profiles in EasyMedia

The correct way to backup and restore custom media profiles is by creating a Media Patch in EasyMedia.

If no backup was made of your media profiles, and you do not have a media patch containing the profiles, you can still attempt to manually import/rebuild the media profiles, if you can access the "Easy" folder.

1. Find the "Easy" folder on your system.

  • On macOS for Caldera V13 and newer, the "Easy" folder can be found under: /Users/name_of_user/Easy
  • On Linux the "Easy" folder can be found under: /home/name_of_user/Easy
  • On macOS for Caldera V12 and older, the "Easy" folder can be found under: /CALDERADATA/Users/caldera/Easy or /Users/name_of_user/Easy

2. Use your Operating System File Browser, or the terminal, to take a look at the contents of your "Easy" folder:

  • Under the "Easy" folder you'll see all the printers you have installed (for example: CalderaJet).
  • Under each printer folder you'll find the folders named after the Media Profiles (for example: CalderaJet Photo Paper).
  • Under each Media profile folder you'll find folders named after the Mode (for example: CMYK).
  • Under each Mode folder you'll find folders named after the resolution (for example: 720).

3. Now go to EasyMedia in your Caldera software:

  • Go to your printer and create a new Media. Name it exactly as it was named in your Easy folder.
  • Click next and create a new Media Project. Select the Mode, Resolution and Quality exactly as it is under your Easy folder.
  • In case of a print mode with the light inks go to the Transition tab and choose 'Load/Import existing file'. Click browse and browse to your Easy folder.
  • Follow the directory tree by clicking on your printer -> media type -> inkset -> resolution -> select the .ppi file to import.
  • Go to your Linearization tab and choose 'Load/Import existing file'. Click browse and browse to your Easy folder.
  • Follow the directory tree by clicking on your printer -> media type -> inkset -> resolution -> select the .ppc file to import.

For example: CalderaJet -> CalderaJet Photo Paper -> CMYK -> 720 -> CalderaJet_Photo_Paper_720_CMYK.ppc

Save the newly re-created profile after importing all relevant data. Your profile should be working now.

Note: Profiles are also stored in the /opt/caldera/lib/ICC_PROFILES folder so this can be used when there's not an ~/Easy folder (Easy folder will only contain custom profiles created on that system).
