HP Scitex FB500/700 Series - Config error -9

Issue

Internal error, Configuration file error (-9) / Config File error (-9)

Problem

This error is caused by a corrupted file in the library (not very common).

Solution

  1. First, stop the driver that is running on CalderaRIP. For this, go to the Modules Tab (Special tab in older versions) > Server Administration > Select the printer > Stop the Server (password is "caldera").

  2. Copy the attached file to your Desktop (macOS 10.6 in this example).

  3. Open the Finder (click on an empty area on the desktop).

  4.  Select the Go to folder... menu:

  5. Enter the path specified in the image below (find the path for other operating systems at the end of the article):
    Screen_Shot_2019-10-10_at_11.04.14_AM.png

  6. Now Select all files that start with HP Scitex...., and move them to the Recycle Bin:

    Screen_Shot_2019-10-10_at_11.05.32_AM.png

  7. Go to the Go Menu again. The following window will open:
    Screen_Shot_2019-10-10_at_11.07.20_AM.png

  8. Drag and Drop the hpldrlgl.dat file into the Recycle Bin (Requires Administrator privilege, so log in with the Administrator user name and password).

  9. Copy the new hpldrlgl.dat file from the desktop into the folder where we just removed the old file.

  10. Close all windows.

  11. Open CalderaRIP and try printing again.

Alternative file paths in other Operating Systems

  • Kubuntu:
    • usr/lib/HP_Kaa
    • /usr/lib32/HP_Kaa
  • Debian:
    • /usr/lib64/HP_Kaa

Remember to first stop the printer driver, as specified in Step 1. Then replace the hpldrlgl.dat file with the one attached at the end of this article.

Other solutions

If after doing this the error persists, then try duplicating the driver in Server Administration and check if the error also appears in the duplicate driver, if not, use the duplicate driver.

If the duplicate driver also shows an error, then reinstall CalderaRIP on top of the current installation, and don't forget to update CalderaRIP and the printer driver.
