This article outlines the steps to configure MS Printing Solution printers on a pre-installed RIP station (Dell C3 computer), including network settings and IP configuration, to ensure a seamless connection between CalderaRIP and the printers.
Info
Before beginning, ensure that the RIP station is directly connected via Ethernet using the Broadcom Gigabit adapter.
- Open the "Control Center" (System > Control Center).
- Open the "Network Connections" section:
- You should see two connections. Choose the one from the printer, "MS" in this case, and click "Edit".
- Go to the Ethernet tab. Choose the MAC address of the appropriate card (on a C3, this is usually eth0):
- Under the "IPv4 Settings" tab, enter an IP address and subnet/netmask. The IP address of the network adapter should be similar to that of the printer.
For instance, if the printer’s IP is 192.168.4.101, enter 192.168.4.100 for the RIP. A gateway is not required, as there is no internet connection: - Test the Connection. Ensure the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the server (check for link lights). Use the ping command in the terminal to verify connectivity.
- (Optional) Configure the Second Network Adapter. If required, configure the second network adaptor to connect to the LAN.
- Finally, open CalderaRIP. Then, Navigate to Settings > ServerAdmin > Choose the printer > Configure.
Enter the printer’s IP address using the RAW IP connection type: - Once configured, jobs should appear in the printer’s Qwizard interface, ready to be sent to print.
