What is User Account Control (UAC)?

User Account Control (UAC) is a security feature in Windows designed to help prevent unauthorized changes to your system. It notifies you when actions requiring administrator permissions are initiated, allowing you to approve or deny these changes.

Why Disabling UAC?

During the installation of certain software or modules, you may receive a notification prompting you to disable UAC. If this happens, it is important to allow the app to disable UAC.

Additionally, it is important to keep UAC disabled even after installation to prevent operational challenges, which may include:

  • Installation failures: Some software may not install correctly if UAC prompts interrupt the process.
  • Functionality limitations: Some updates may not function as intended if they are unable to access necessary system resources due to UAC restrictions.
  • Increased user prompts: Frequent UAC prompts can disrupt production, requiring constant user intervention to approve actions.

By generally disabling UAC, you ensure a smoother installation and updates, allowing the processes to function without unnecessary interruptions.

How to generally disable UAC on my computer?

  1. Open the User Account Control Settings panel.
    • To access, open the Windows Start menu and type "User Account Control" in the search bar.
    • Select the corresponding option from the search results.
  2. In the User Account Control Settings window, drag the slider to the bottom to select the "Never notify" option:
