Occasionally, some HP Latex and Stitch S1000 printer drivers may generate corrupted TIFF files on Ubuntu. Unfortunately, no software solution can be implemented to prevent this issue, which arises from libtiff not functioning correctly when writing to an SMB shared folder.

Identify the issue before printing
Corruption can be identified by opening the output TIFF in Fileman. This helps prevent you from starting a print job with corrupted files, thereby avoiding media loss.
Workaround
The only workaround is to override the CalderaRIP installation with V18 or higher and then use the "Transfer at Once" option available in the driver (Print Module > Printer Settings > Printer tab):
Example of two different printer drivers
Good to know
The "Transfer at Once" option is saved in the Print Presets (also known as QuickPrints). It is recommended to update these presets by loading the desired preset, enabling the option, and then saving the preset again.
What to do if the workaround doesn't work?
- If available in your printer driver, disable LZW compression by selecting "None" in the TIFF Compression option, and then try again.
-
If enabling “Transfer at Once” and disabling “TIFF Compression” (if available) do not resolve the issue, install the AddressSanitizer (ASan) tool to identify other potential causes.
Info
This step is intended for experienced users, as the AddressSanitizer is a third-party tool that requires some technical knowledge.
- If the problem persists, gather as much information as possible about your workstation (including Ubuntu version, SMB version and configuration, printer used, input image, and output corrupted images) and contact support.
