Mimaki UJF 3042(HG) and 6042 - Printer Settings

Printer tab

  • Refresh Level: Frequency of head quick Cleanings. Determines how often the print head undergoes quick cleanings during printing.
  • Scan Width: Carriage movement width. Specifies whether the carriage moves across the full width of the table or only the width of the job.
  • Overplotting Mode (Only on some drivers): Layer order selection. Determines whether white is printed before or after colors.
  • Action: Print and irradiate options. Select whether to print and irradiate with UV simultaneously, only irradiate, or only print without irradiation.
  • Mode at End of Job: Printer mode Selection. Configure the printer to switch to Remote or Local mode when a job is completed.

Advanced Parameters

  • Includes the configuration parameters for network connections.

Media tab

  • Information: at the top of the window, you are able to see information about your media. There you have access to two actions:
    • Save: when you click on this button, the current media settings are saved to the selected media profile (printer, media, resolution, mode) so there will be applied for any new job using the same print configuration. If you don't save, the changes you made are only applied to the current job.
    • Reload: will revert back to default as set during profiling or the last saved changes.
  • Horizontal compensation (%): we recommend not to modify this. Any deviation is likely to be mechanical on the printer's side.
  • Vertical compensation (%): this can be useful if you detect an increase or decrease in the length due to heating or media tension which is common when printing on vinyl or textiles for example. To calculate the compensation, click Compute and follow the software’s instructions.

  • Feed Adjust: Correction of height-axis movement. Adjusts the vertical positioning of the print head.
  • Overprint: Increased ink application. Allows for the use of additional ink to enhance color saturation.
  • UV Lamp Number (for UJF-3042): Early UJF-3042 models are equipped with 4 lamps, while updated versions have 8 lamps. If a printer with 8 lamps is set to use 4, the lamps will be grouped in pairs (e.g., the UV lamp 1 setting controls lamps 1 and 2).
  • UV Lamp X Irradiation Level: Specifies the strength of the UV lamp.
  • Variable Dot Selection: Determines ink quantities associated with 3 levels of data in Multi Drop resolutions (those without the -Fix suffix). This printer utilizes multi-drop technology, delivering multiple 7 pl droplets at a single pixel location. Higher ink quantities will result in slower printing speeds.
  • Fixed Dot Selection: Controls the ink quantity for a single pixel in Normal Drop resolutions (those with the -Fix suffix).
  • Vardot Level: In Variable Drop resolutions, this setting adjusts the ratio of 1-drop and 2-drop pixels relative to 3-drop pixels. It is recommended to set this value between 50% and 70%, with a default of around 70%.

      Info

If you notice density drops or discontinuities in middle densities during linearization, consider decreasing this value to address the issue. Conversely, increasing the value can help reduce graininess.

Status tab

  • Status: global state of the printer:
    • Ready
    • Not available
    • Printing

All data is coming from the printer, if it is not available, nothing can be displayed.

  • Inks: information about the ink configuration and the inks levels in %.
  • Media: information about the media loaded on the printer.
  • Misc: complementary info about the printer (model, serial number, firmware version).
  • Refresh: button to refresh the tab.
