Epson SureColor S50600 and S70600 - Silver management
The silver ink can be linearized to be integrated to an ICC profile like CMYKO + silver. It can also be used as a Spot Color or by using a specific channel.
To use the Metallic channel, a Spot Color or a channel has to be named “metallic”. With its name, it can be automatically detected and associated to the right channel.
Auto detection of the silver channel
If the chosen color mode is CMYK (Ocmk) + silver, it means that the profile contents a specific linearization curve for silver ink that can be applied.
When the CMYK (Ocmk) mode is chosen, Caldera will automatically detect if a metallic channel or Spot Color is attached to the image. (It has to be named “Metallic").
Use of the silver channel
If the chosen mode does not contain silver (CMYK(Ocmk) mode), a separation has to be done between the colors and the silver channel. If not, the silver will not be printed.
To activate the separation, open the page configuration (first button at the bottom of the print window:
), then open the Metallic tab. Here, check the Enable Separation box and adjust the parameters accordingly. The print can then be directly launched from this window or you can close it to carry on with the print configuration.

If this step is not completed and even if the resolution indicates something with silver (720*720 – silver+colors) for example, the silver channel will not be printed. Be careful that it is only true for CMYK (Ocmk) color modes.
Spot Color libraries
Using the CMYK (Ocmk) + silver mode allows the user to use the specific linearized silver curve made for the profile. It creates new colors that are a mix between the CMYK (Ocmk) colors and silver such as bronze, gold, silver, etc.
These new colors can be organized into libraries and used in the Spot Color management window.
