The Epson SureColor S50600 and S70600 can use white, ant the S70600 can use silver (metallic), as spot inks, in combination with certain resolutions.
White Management
Applicable to Epson SureColor S50600 and S70600 users.
White can be printed as either an underlayer or a top layer of the "colored" layer. CalderaRIP does not allow this ink to be mixed with the basic inks. It requires particular separation and activation.
To activate the white ink, open Page Setup (the first button at the bottom of the Print Module Interface ). It is activated in a separate tab named: White. Check the "Enable Separation" box and adjust the parameters accordingly. You can then launch the print directly from this window, or close it to continue with the print configuration:
If this step is not completed, the printer will not print with white ink. Even if white parameters are chosen further, the printer will not print with white ink.
Silver (Metallic) Management
Applicable to Epson SureColor S70600 users.
The silver ink can be linearized and integrated into an ICC profile, such as CMYKO + silver. It can also be used as a spot color or by using a specific channel.
To use the metallic channel, the spot color or channel must be named "metallic." With this name, it can be automatically detected and associated with the correct channel.
Auto detection of the silver channel
If you choose the CMYK (Ocmk) + silver color mode, it means that the profile contains a specific linearization curve for silver ink that can be applied.
When CMYK (Ocmk) is selected, Caldera will automatically detect if a metallic channel or spot color is attached to the image. It must be named "Metallic."
Use of the silver channel
If the chosen mode does not contain silver (CMYK mode), the colors and the silver channel must be separated. Otherwise, the silver will not be printed.
To activate the separation, open Page Setup (the first button at the bottom of the Print Module Interface ) and then open the Metallic tab. Check the "Enable Separation" box and adjust the parameters accordingly. You can then launch the print directly from this window, or close it to continue with the print configuration.
Even if the resolution indicates something with silver (720x720 — silver + colors), for example, the silver channel will not be printed if this step is not completed. Note that this is only true for CMYK (Ocmk) color modes.
Spot Color libraries
Using the CMYK + silver mode allows users to apply the profile's specific linearized silver curve. This creates new colors that are a mix of CMYK and silver, such as bronze, gold, and silver.
These colors can be organized into libraries and used in the Spot Color Management window.
