The drivers delivers only 8-bit data, with half-toning performed directly by the printer:
Black and White
To print black and white images using only black toner (instead of using all four toners for composite black), select the driver in Gray mode and choose one of the following qualities:

Using RGB or CMYK modes will result in black and white prints being processed in four-color printing.

Counter
The printer features two built-in counters that track the number of copies printed, whether monochromatic or colored. Depending on the quality and mode, grayscale printing may count as either monochromatic or colored output.
