These printers support White, Varnish, and Primer as Spot Inks. To configure them, go to Page Setup > White/Varnish/Primer tab:
- Ensure that the corresponding tab(s) are enabled in the Page Setup window, and disable any other special ink tabs.
- In the selected tab, configure the desired method and source for your special ink (e.g., Full Page Coverage, Generate from CMYK Data) to achieve selective printing for that layer.
-
At the bottom of the tab, you can define a linearization curve.
Warning
Note that the density set for Full Page Coverage is relative to your linearization. For instance, if the linearization is set to 50% for 100% input and you set a 50% density for Full Page Coverage, you will actually achieve an absolute density of 25%.
Once you are done, save your configurations as a preset.
Considerations
For UV-only passes (where no printing occurs, only scanning with UV ON), change the printer parameter Action (via the wrench icon in the Printer tab) from "Print and UV" to "UV Only."
To achieve both matte and glossy varnish finishes, you must use two different media configurations with parameters (UV lamps) set for each finish. Since both use the same resolution and mode (Clear Coat only), they will share media parameters unless configured separately.
For high-density white, enable this option to instruct the printer to boost white density.
