Mimaki UJF-Mkll series - Printer Settings

Printer tab

  • Refresh level: frequency of head quick cleanings during print
  • Under layer: select what ink type should be printed under. If the Under layer is the same as the Top layer, only one layer will be printed. If a special layer is selected, you have to choose the layer separation (where to put the ink) in one of the tabs of the page setup. You cannot enable two separations at the same time if two special layers have been selected. An error will occur, as this printer can only print one special layer at the time. You can select one of the following option: None, Color, White, Clear Coat or Primer
  • Top layer: select what ink type should be printed over. If the Under layer is the same as the Top layer, only one layer will be printed. If a special layer is selected, you have to choose the layer separation (where to put the ink) in one of the tabs of the page setup. You cannot enable two separations at the same time. If two special layers have been selected, an error will occur, as this printer can only print one special layer at the time. You can select one of the following option: None, Color, White, Clear Coat or Primer.
  • UV Setting: set the UV special operation. Default: uses the panel selection, UV only: no ink is printed and only UV curing is performed, no UV: ink is printed and no UV curing is performed.
  • Finish: performs an effect on the Clear Coat layer to achieve Matte: performs a matte finishing, Glossy: performs a glossy finishing only in single layer, or Embossing: applies a relief effect only in single layer printing.
  • Enable workchange feature: if enabled, the printer will automatically switch from remote to local after printing one job (or one copy of a job) and will wait until you switch back to remote before sending the next copy / job. This allows you to change media between two prints.
  • Enable LD mode: this mode is suited when the printing support is not flat.

Media tab

  • Information: at the top of the window, you are able to see information about your media. There you have access to two actions:
    • Save: when you click on this button, the current media settings are saved to the selected media profile (printer, media, resolution, mode) so there will be applied for any new job using the same print configuration. If you don't save, the changes you made are only applied to the current job.
    • Reload: will revert back to default as set during profiling or the last saved changes.
  • Horizontal compensation (%): we recommend not to modify this. Any deviation is likely to be mechanical on the printer's side.
  • Vertical compensation (%): this can be useful if you detect an increase or decrease in the length due to heating or media tension which is common when printing on vinyl or textiles for example. To calculate the compensation, click Compute and follow the software’s instructions.
  • Dot type: option that allow the user to select either a variable dot size (Automatic) or any fixed dot size (Large, Medium or Small).
  • Overprint: multiply the amount of ink by the selected factor. Type the number wanted (between 1 and 9) or use the + and - buttons.
  • Feed adjust: set the media feed adjustment level value. The value 0.00 disable this function (use value set on panel) but a number -255 and 255 enable it (use selected feed adjustment level).
  • UV level adjustment (%): specify the UV light volume adjustment from -50% to 100%.

Status tab

  • Status: global state of the printer:
    • Ready
    • Not available
    • Printing

All data is coming from the printer, if it is not available, nothing can be displayed.

  • Inks: information about the ink configuration and the inks levels in %.
  • Media: information about the media loaded on the printer.
  • Misc: complementary info about the printer (model, serial number, firmware version).
  • Refresh: button to refresh the tab.
