Print Size Discrepancies Troubleshooting

This article outlines steps to prevent print size discrepancies when the actual print size does not match the printer driver settings.

When you send the same file for multiple prints, you expect consistent outcomes. However, several factors related to the media, such as temperature, humidity, batch, and age, can impact media dimensions and cause noticeable differences. As illustrated in the example below, the same job is printed on different printers using identical materials:

To address issues like this, EasyMedia offers a correction tool that applies a scaling factor in both vertical and horizontal directions.

  1. Open EasyMedia and select the printer you want to correct for media size variations:

  2. Select the media and click on the "Edit" button at the lower area of the window:

  3. Go to the Parameters tab on the window that will appear. Select "Horizontal Compensation", for an horizontal fix, and "Vertical Compensation" for a vertical one:

  4. Both horizontal and vertical adjustments follow the same procedure. To make the necessary corrections, follow the instructions in the adjustment window:

Print the desired length, measure the printed length, and CalderaRIP will apply a correction factor based on the known differences:

Another approach is to use a measurement from an already printed file and compare it to the expected print size. For example, if the measured image length is 101 inches but the expected length is 100 inches, simply enter these values to calculate the compensation percentage:

So in this example a  -1% is to be applied:
