  Warning

The default settings you will see are those recommended by Caldera. In this sense, it is advisable to make changes only if a PDF file presents problems in production.

Adobe PDF Print Engine (APPE) Configuration

  Good to know

The changes done in the Adobe PDF Print Engine Configuration are global, but some of these settings can also be applied per job by clicking on the Setup button of the FileMan module.

The Adobe PDF Print Engine Configuration allows you to change the behavior of the Adobe PDF Print Engine in different ways.

All settings are self-documented: by hovering the mouse over each option, you can read the explanations in the lower space of the window.

The first field contains one of the most important settings. You can select either Caldera or Adobe as the CMM (Color Management Module) to use. As described in this field, both options produce the same colors in most cases and have the same sub-functions, however, Caldera is the default module selected as it supports additional functionalities within the RIP.

  Info

Changes applied to the default settings should only be used when printing issues arise. Therefore, if you modify the global settings we recommend that you return to this window immediately afterward and restore them with the "Restore Defaults" button.

Also note that these settings affect the Adobe PDF print engine on local RIP stations, which means that they do not affect remote workstations.

The “Bicubic Resampling” setting was launched in V17 and was exclusive to CalderaCare subscribers until V18 (when it was included for all users).
