Print module - Print Presets

To automate your production, you can save your print presets (settings) in the Print Module and quickly access them for future print jobs.

When you select a previously saved print setting, the selections for print parameters (resolution, media, mode…), page setup parameters (crop marks, cut parameters, job adjustment), and color management (rendering output and input, simulation profile, InkPerformer settings…), will automatically be generated, so there is no need for manual settings.

  Good to know

Presets are also known as QuickConfigs.

Saving and managing presets is part of a CalderaRIP automation process known as QuickPrints. Read more.

It is possible to combine the use of presets with multilayer printing, however, this combination is not fully recommended as it has several limitations. Read more.

Add a preset

To add a print preset:

1. Define your print settings (resolution, media, mode…).

  Info

You can use any image to launch the print module. The image will not saved in the preset.

2. Click the Save button: Screenshot from 2024-01-03 13-51-41.png

  Good to know

It is advisable to save presets using the media name and a summary of the parameters, as in the example before.

4. You will see your saved presets in the drop-down list, at the bottom of the Print Module (and just before the big icons):

Edit a preset

To edit a saved preset:

1. Just select the saved preset from the drop-down list.

2. Make your changes and then click Save.

3. A pop-up will appear asking you if you want to rename the setting.

  Info

Generally, we do not recommend changing the name of the configuration, to avoid overfilling the drop-down list. However, it might be convenient to do it so you identify each configuration more easily (especially if the name of the configuration includes one of the configurations you changed, for example).

4. Another pop-up will appear. Click Overwrite to confirm your changes:

Configuration Management

You can open the Configuration management window to access your list of saved presets and perform some other editions by clicking the ellipsis button: Screenshot from 2024-01-03 13-59-05.png

The Configuration Management window allows you to perform the following actions:

  • Delete: This allows you to delete the selected preset(s) / configuration(s). Confirm the action:Screenshot from 2024-01-03 14-01-22.png
  • Edit: Allows you to edit the selected preset's name:

  • Export: Exports and saves the selected preset as a .xml file to the workstation.
  • Initial configuration: Designated by a “Yes” next to its name, this setting puts the selected preset to default.
  • Up: Moves the selected print setup in the order of the drop-down list.
  • Down: Moves the selected preset down in the order of the drop-down list.
  • Reload configuration on image drop: Refreshes your preset to their original saved settings upon each new print job in case a setting was changed for the previous print job.

      Info

You can also, at any time, refresh the parameters and reapply the current configuration by clicking on the Refresh button on the module window:

  • Load initial configuration when the application opens: Enables the default preset to appear for new print jobs. When disabled, the last used preset will populate for a new print job.
  • Import: Imports a saved preset from another workstation.

     Caution

Be careful, if you try to import a configuration that is named as one you already have. You will be asked to choose either to Overwrite or to Keep your configuration:
