HP Latex and Stitch S1000: Issues with Windows Share on macOS and incomplete ripped files

This guide provides solutions for connecting to Windows shares and resolving issues with incomplete ripped files for HP Latex printers.

Issue: Connecting to Windows Share from MacOS

Background

The default shared folder on an HP PC running Windows is located at c:/OUTPUT. However, users may encounter issues connecting to this share, especially with newer versions of MacOS, which do not allow guest access without a password.

Solution: Adding a User for Access

  1. Add a New User on Windows:
    • Select Start > Settings > Accounts > Family & other users.
(Alternatively, search for "accounts" in the Windows search bar.)
    • Under Other users, select Add someone else to this PC:

    • Skip all sign-in information and choose to add a user without a Microsoft account:

    • Enter caldera as the username and set the password to caldera:

  2. Set Permissions for the Shared Folder:
    • Navigate to the folder acting as the IPS hotfolder (e.g., c:\OUTPUT).
    • Right-click the folder and select Properties.
    • Go to the Sharing tab and click on Share.
    • Add the newly created user caldera and grant Read/Write permissions. Click Share:

  3. Mount the Windows Share:
    • Use the username caldera and password caldera to mount the Windows share.

Issue: Incomplete Ripped Files

Background

If you encounter incomplete ripped files, the printer requires a JDF, LowRes.tiff (for preview), and HighRes.tiff (for printing purposes).

Solution: Run the Permissions Check Script

Ensure the following script has been executed:

c:\ProgramData\HP\IPS\SupportTools\Win10SystemCheck\CheckIpsPermissions.exe
