Purpose
In some PrimeCenter workflows, artwork that has a printed white outline or halo around the design can be partially clipped when placed into a gang sheet. The original file looks correct, but the resulting gang PDF and downstream RIP preview show one edge missing or cut tight into the white.
Cause
The issue is related to the Crop Page to Visible Content input fixup used in the recipe.
- When this fixup is set to modes like Smart or Visible Content Including White Areas with no margin, PrimeCenter can crop too close to the artwork.
- On designs with a white halo or outer white border, this tight crop removes part of that white area, which then appears as a clipped edge in the gang sheet and RIP preview.
Solution
Adjust the input fixup in the recipe:
- Open the recipe in Layout Creator and locate the Crop Page to Visible Content input fixup.
- Keep or set the mode to Visible Content Including White Areas (or avoid cropping if it is not needed for that workflow).
- Add a small positive margin, for example 0.2 inch (5 mm), so the fixup leaves a safety zone around the design.
With this margin, the white halo around the artwork is preserved and no longer clipped in the gang sheet or RIP preview.
Notes and best practices
- For artwork that relies on an outer white outline or halo, avoid aggressive automatic cropping and always apply a small margin if you use Crop Page to Visible Content.
- If the source files are already correctly sized and do not need trimming, consider disabling cropping entirely in the recipe for those jobs.
- If you also use a white choke in the DTF RIP, test with a reduced choke or the added margin to ensure the white halo remains visible.
