If your file looks correct in Adobe Acrobat but shows a different Trim Box in PrimeCenter, the issue is usually caused by how the PDF was created.
In a PDF, the MediaBox defines the full page size. Other page boxes, including the TrimBox, are not supposed to extend beyond it. If they do, different applications may handle that inconsistency differently.
Adobe Acrobat may visually normalize or ignore the issue, while PrimeCenter reads the box values as they are actually stored in the PDF. This can make the Trim Box appear different between the two applications and may affect cutting if PrimeCenter is using the Trim Box for production.
How to fix it
PrimeCenter version 5.0 includes options to optimize the file and automatically adjust the Trim Box to the MediaBox when needed.
Option 1: File Editor
- Open File Editor.
- Go to Import Settings.
- Enable File optimization.
Option 2: Layout Creator
- Open Layout Creator.
- Add the Optimize Document fixup as an input fixup in your recipe.
Best practice
If this issue happens repeatedly with a customer template, the template itself may need to be updated so the Trim Box is defined correctly within the MediaBox.
