Configuring White and Varnish Ink Channels for the Vanguard VK3220T-HS

When printing with two White ink channels, or with White and Varnish special inks on the Vanguard-VK3220T-HS, the standard printer driver requires additional configuration in Caldera.

White and White special inks

1. In Caldera, open Settings > Server Admin.
2. Select the Vanguard-VK3220T-HS printer and click Configure.
3. Open the Special inks tab.
4. Add both White inks.

1. When printing with these channels, open the White tabs in Page Setup.
2. Enable both channels and select the desired white generation to print White to maximize density.
3. Also enable Generate when empty in case only one channel is used.

Enabling Generate when empty ensures that the sixth channel is sent to the printer (CMYK+WW).

White and Varnish special inks

When printing Varnish, White must be enabled in Page Setup, even when no White is intended to print.

1. In the White tab of Page Setup, enable White.
2. In the Special inks settings, set the White ink to Generate when empty.

This configuration ensures that the required White channel is generated and sent to the printer when printing Varnish. With the White channel being disabled the printer will not print Varnish.
