This article explains why Caldera applications that support macOS 27 Golden Gate may ask you to install Rosetta after you upgrade your Mac.

Support for macOS 27 Golden Gate will be introduced to Caldera applications at different times. The Rosetta message appears only when you first open a supported application that uses an Intel-based component and requires Rosetta.
Why might I see a Rosetta installation message?
Macs use one of two processor types: Intel processors or Apple processors, such as M1, M2, M3, and later. Some components in CalderaRIP, PrimeCenter, CalderaDock, and other Caldera applications were originally designed for Intel-based Macs.
Rosetta is an Apple tool that allows Intel-based components to run on Macs with Apple processors. Before macOS 27 Golden Gate, Rosetta was installed automatically when required and then ran in the background. It did not need to be opened or managed separately.
On macOS 27 Golden Gate, Rosetta is no longer installed automatically in the background. Instead, the first time you launch a supported Caldera application that uses an Intel-based component, macOS may ask you to install it.
Good to know
If you previously used Caldera applications on macOS 26, you may have seen a warning that Intel-based applications would not work with a future macOS release. On macOS 27, you can install Rosetta to continue running the application.

How do I know which type of Mac I have?
- Select the Apple menu in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Select About This Mac.
- Check the processor information:
- If you see Chip followed by an Apple chip name, such as Apple M1, Apple M2, or later, you have an Apple-silicon Mac. You may need Rosetta.
- If you see Processor followed by Intel, you have an Intel Mac. Rosetta is not required.

Install Rosetta when prompted
If you use an Apple-silicon Mac and open a supported Caldera application that requires an Intel-based component, macOS may display a Rosetta installation message:
- Select Install.
- Enter your Mac administrator password if requested.
- Wait for the installation to finish.
- Reopen the Caldera application if necessary.
This is a one-time action. Once Rosetta is installed, it works automatically in the background for affected Caldera applications.
If you select Not Now, you can install Rosetta later.
