This article explains how to open a spot color from CalderaSubmit DTF in CalderaColor and prepare a ColorBook to review and fine-tune its reproduction.

  Info

CalderaColor is a new Caldera application for creating, managing, and refining color configurations for professional print workflows. It will soon be available in CalderaDock > Tools.

Fine-tune a spot color in CalderaColor

Use Fine-tune in CalderaColor to open a selected spot color in CalderaColor and create a ColorBook for reviewing and adjusting its reproduction.

  1. Open the Spot Colors module and select the spot color you want to fine-tune.
  2. Set the spot color mapping to Simulated: Process. The Fine-tune in CalderaColor action then becomes available:

  3. Click Fine-tune in CalderaColor. CalderaColor opens with the spot color name, supported ink percentages, and usable media dimensions transferred from CalderaSubmit.
  4. Review the reference color and configure the ColorBook in CalderaColor.

  Info

Ink channels set to 0% or 100% are automatically locked in CalderaColor, so they are not varied when generating the ColorBook.

Transferred ink values

CalderaColor receives the percentages for supported ink channels: cyan, magenta, yellow, black, red, green, blue, orange, violet, and white. Other ink channels are not transferred.

Media dimensions

The transferred dimensions represent the usable media area, excluding margins and space reserved for cut marks, color bars, and slicer marks when applicable.

For roll media, only the usable width is transferred. CalderaColor keeps its existing page-height setting.
