The Roland TrueVIS SG3 allows you to cut with your printer using the following drivers:
- Roland SP: Suitable for instant cutting immediately after printing or for deferred cutting using VisualCut (with or without lamination).
- Roland Internal: Designed specifically for instant cutting right after printing.
Instant cutting
- Instant cut just after print: when enabled, prints the file and then immediately cuts the file. When disabled, a cut file is generated and you can manage cutting when you want with VisualCut.
- Use printer's registration marks: when enabled, generates printer registration marks to improve cutting accuracy. Best practice is to enable this feature for instant cut print jobs. Note that he registration marks will not appear in the preview window.
If you intend to use PerfCut in Instant Cut, please refer to the dedicated document on how to configure it.
Deferred cutting with VisualCut
To manage cutting using the VisualCut interface, disable the "Instant Cut After Print" option in the "Instant Cutting" section above. To learn more about VisualCut, click here.
Please note that the first registration mark is located at the bottom-left corner of the print. This differs from Roland VG cutters, where it is positioned at the bottom-right.
The use of PerfCut involves configuring a tool with dash parameters and associating it with the intended contours.
How to improve the accuracy of cutting jobs?
To enhance the accuracy of cutting jobs, start by adjusting the printer alignment between Print and Cut on the printer panel. Note that there are two different settings available for adjusting Print and Cut, one for jobs with registration marks and one for jobs without.
Since Roland printers do not utilize intermediate marks, accuracy can be compromised on longer jobs. To minimize this issue in a Step-and-Repeat scenario with multiple lines, switch to Auto mode (Step-and-Repeat -> Standard -> Auto). This setting will separate the job into several smaller segments, allowing each to be printed and cut independently with registration marks around each segment.
Warning
Accuracy may be reduced if the media is removed and then reloaded. Additionally, the lamination process can also decrease accuracy.
For more information on the various settings for adjusting Print and Cut, as well as the expected accuracy based on job context, please refer to the manufacturer’s manual.
