swissQprint Karibu - Spot inks

By default, four Special Inks are linked to the printer:

  • Primer
  • Varnish
  • White Underlay
  • White Overlay

Each of them has a dedicated tab in the Page Setup window. For more information about these tabs, please refer to the article on Spot Inks.

In addition to the standard behavior of these Special Inks, most of them allow you to define a specific Quality and Print Field, as shown below:

Primer

In the Primer tab, you only have a Quality field. Three qualities are available:

  • Prime 1
  • Prime 2
  • Prime 3
 

 

White-Under

In the White-U tab, three qualities are available:

  • Translucent
  • Semi Translucent
  • Opaque
 

You can also choose between three print modes:

  • Underlay: white is printed beneath the colors.
  • Spot: white is treated as a spot color.
  • Color-White-Color: sandwich mode, in which white is printed between two color layers.

 

White-Over

In the White-O tab, three qualities are available:

  • Translucent
  • Semi Translucent
  • Opaque
 

You can also choose between three Print modes:

  • Underlay: white is printed beneath the colors.
  • Spot: white is treated as a spot color.
  • Color-White-Color: sandwich mode, in which white is printed between two color layers.

 

Varnish

In the Varnish tab, four qualities are available:

  • Matt
  • Semi Gloss
  • Gloss
  • Drop Gloss

You can also choose between two print modes:

  • Overlay: varnish is printed over the colors.
  • Spot: varnish is treated as a spot color.
