How to install Mount Tool [old version] under Ubuntu Linux?

For historical purposes only. This article covers an earlier version of MountTool, when it operated as an external add-on application. Since its version 2.1, MountTool has been integrated to CalderaDock as an utility of the app. For more information, please refer to the dedicated article.

The installation of MountTool v1.8 was designed for Debian Linux but was also compatible with Ubuntu Linux. Keep reading to know how to install and use it.

  1. You can get MountTool v1.8 by requesting it from the Support team.
  2. Once you have downloaded the file, open a file explorer and go to the folder where you have stored the file (usually the "Downloads" folder).
  3. Double-click on the downloaded file and extract the content to the Downloads folder:

  4. Go inside the new folder that was created and enable the view of hidden files in it:

  5. Right-click on the .install.sh file and use the option "Run as program" to start the installation:

  6. When prompted, use the root password:

  7. Click on "Continue":

  8. A pop-up will inform you that the installation has been done:

  9. The software will be launched automatically:

  10. If you need to launch the software later, you can use the search field in Ubuntu to find it:

      Warning

    If you wish to use MountTool or any kind of network sharing, you should first install the network tools from the "Setup Tools" module in CalderaDock; without them, you will not be able to access or share folders through the network:
