Printer tab
- Check media type before printing: A warning is made if the media size is smaller than the printed document.
- Display printer warnings: You can choose to display, or not, printer warnings directly in the RIP. Warnings are only displayed before printing.
- Cut after print: It enables the embedded cutter and automatically cut the job after the print.
"Display white printhead warning" is available only in W drivers from V18.2 or later.
-
Display white printhead warning. When enabled, the printer driver will display two distinct messages based on your production:
-
For jobs with white ink, the driver will prompt you to unload the white ink printhead from the storage system, and install it following the instructions on the printer's control panel.
Warning
If you don't install the white printhead, printing will continue without interruption; however, the controller will register an error.
For more information on handling white inks in these printers, please refer to the HP documentation (starting on page 202).
- For jobs without white ink, the driver will recommend placing the white ink printhead in the storage system to extend its life.
-
Advanced parameters:
-
Use printer status: Skip some driver-printer interaction.
- When enabled: The printer will communicate with the Caldera driver, which allows the RIP to display additional information such as CostProof (media and ink usage calculation), Printing progress percentage, or job status.
Warning
Job abort is not possible from the driver when the "Use printer status" option is enabled and when the printer is already printing. If you try to do so, the job will appear as canceled in the Spooler module, but the printing will continue.
To cancel a job, we recommend you do it directly on the printer's front panel. - When disabled (default): The driver does not check for the job status of the printer. This means the job cannot be canceled and calculation info cannot be retrieved, however, this allows continuous printing without waiting for the full completion of the previous jobs.
- When enabled: The printer will communicate with the Caldera driver, which allows the RIP to display additional information such as CostProof (media and ink usage calculation), Printing progress percentage, or job status.
- Prepare to print: By clicking this button, the driver communicates with the printer so it can make itself ready to print.
Media tab
-
Information: at the top of the window, you are able to see information about your media. There you have access to two actions:
- Save: when you click on this button, the current media settings are saved to the selected media profile (printer, media, resolution, mode) so there will be applied for any new job using the same print configuration. If you don't save, the changes you made are only applied to the current job.
- Reload: will revert back to default as set during profiling or the last saved changes.
- Horizontal compensation (%): we recommend not to modify this. Any deviation is likely to be mechanical on the printer's side.
- Vertical compensation (%): this can be useful if you detect an increase or decrease in the length due to heating or media tension which is common when printing on vinyl or textiles for example. To calculate the compensation, click Compute and follow the software’s instructions.
Info
The following parameters are displayed for your information only. You can set them at the beginning of the profiling process in EasyMedia.
- Generic media name: This is the media name used on the printer panel
- Generic media key: It displays the key number used for the media family
Advanced parameters:
"Reduce media between print and cut jobs" is available only in drivers from V17.1 or later.
- Reduce media between print and cut jobs: Reduces the media waste between jobs by limiting the margins.
- Optimized for lamination: Overwrites the value of the print mode Overcoat level
"Smart chokes" is available only in W drivers.
- Smart chokes: Can be defined between 1 and 20 pixels. The white layer is minimized to avoid misalignment between the color layer and the white layer in the printed output when using Underflood or Overflood modes.
Comments tab
On this tab you can see comments coming from the EasyMedia module. It can include comments from the global media window and from the profile project window.
Status tab
-
Status: global state of the printer:
- Ready

- Media: information about the media loaded on the printer.
- Misc: complementary info about the printer (model, serial number, firmware version).
- Refresh: button to refresh the tab.
