This article reviews some of the issues you may encounter while using your HP Stitch S300 / S500 with CalderaRIP and the workarounds we have at your disposal.
Progress bar stuck at 0% in the Spooler
You can experience that the progress bar remains 0% in the Spooler module while the job starts on the printer. CostProof users don't see ink consumption for those jobs.
Workaround
When activating the Continuous Printing, we decided to deactivate the status tracking to allow jobs to go fast enough on the printer. That’s why status concerns only the data sent to the printer.
Disable the Continuous Printing option to get the Status data back including the job's progression and ink consumption.
Ignored CalderaRIP top and bottom margins
By default, these printers ignore CalderaRIP's top and bottom margin settings.
Workaround
Warning
Procedure for advanced users only.
You can force the driver to deviate from the default behavior. Follow this procedure:
1. If the printer server is running, stop it first:
- In the Settings tab, double-click on ServerAdmin
- Select your printer and click the Stop Server button
- Confirm the stop by clicking Yes.
- Enter the administration password which is "caldera" by default and click OK
- The following message appears. Click OK and the Print Module will be automatically closed
2. Create a txt file named "hpl_custom_margin" and save this file into the folder: /opt/caldera/lib/shared
3. Open the terminal (it applies to both Linux and macOS-based installs), and type:
touch /opt/caldera/lib/shared/hpl_custom_margin
4. The file will enable the top and bottom margin specified in the Print module and the ServerAdmin will be used.
Error 63:05
This error occurs on the driver level.
Workaround
First, make sure you have installed the latest driver revision. If the latest driver is installed but the error continues, check the following:
1. Host configuration:
- Verify that the host system is compliant with your RIP software's minimal required configuration.
- Verify that the computer doesn’t go to Sleep Mode while printing.
2. Printer connectivity configuration:
- Disable IPv6 connection (see: Disable IPv6)
- Configure the printer's Internet connection properly:
- In case the network is using a proxy, add the proper configuration to the printer in order to allow the printer to connect Internet correctly. At the printer front panel:
- Connectivity > Internet Connectivity > Proxy > Enable proxy > Yes
- Connectivity > Internet Connectivity > Proxy > Proxy address > “add your local network proxy address.
- In case the internet is not available at the local network where the printer is connected, disable the connection. At printer front panel:
- Connectivity > Internet Connectivity > Internet Connection > No
- In case the network is using a proxy, add the proper configuration to the printer in order to allow the printer to connect Internet correctly. At the printer front panel:
3. Reduce the job accounting information saved at the printer:
- Reduce the accounting logged jobs (EWS -> Setup tab -> Accounting, Max. number of logged jobs) to a value lower than 10.
- Perform file system revision. At printer front panel: Settings > Preventive maintenance tasks > File system check.
- Perform Hard disk recovery to delete temporal files. Boot in the diagnostic menu, then launch test 1.3 Hard disk recovery.
Warning
The hard disk recovery requires service permissions, which are only available to resellers or HP support. If you are a reseller, you can learn more directly in the Service Manual you received.
