CalderaRIP V19:
- The printer driver in this release includes improvements to the multilayer feature, particularly when loading multilayer files from PrimeCenter. Additionally, some features incompatible with multilayer printing have been disabled during the loading of these files to reduce the risk of operation errors. Learn more.
-
CalderaRIP V18.2:
- Revision A: Fixed an intermittent error occurring in the driver.
- Resolved a communication issue between the driver and the printer that could result in a "Send data error: RPC connection failed". The driver no longer crashes when collecting data from the printer.
-
CalderaRIP V18.1:
- Revision A: Update of the driver binary files to avoid unexpected behavior (such as the internal “SIGABRT” error).
- The printer driver has been updated to support the latest firmware version (R4.4.2).
- Changes to the EasyMedia parameters:
- A new Winding Strategy parameter, allowing users to configure a value between 0 (looser) and 5 (tighter) for each media project.
- The Optimize Color Profiling parameter has been removed, as it is no longer necessary for ICC profile selection.
- For more details, consult the Media Management article.
- In ServerAdmin > Configure > Connection tab, a new Spitbars option has been introduced. For more details, consult the Tips and Tricks chapter.
-

Warning
White and gloss spot inks are optional on these printers, so they are unlocked in the printer controller. However, your Canon's controller must have a license that allows you to use these, as well as the multilayer and special resolutions.
You can check your licenses in the ServerAdmin module (as described below) or contact Canon for more information.

Tips & tricks
Connection of Caldera's driver to the printer controller
A connection to the controller is required to create media according to the retrieved media types list. You can make the connection through the ServerAdmin module:
- Click on the module
- Select the Colorado-M-Series
- Then click on Configure. Another pop-up will open
- You can set the connection correctly at the bottom of the Connection tab
Using Spot Inks and special resolutions
Also in the ServerAdmin module: At the top of the Connection tab, you can access the different licenses to use Spot Inks and special resolutions. Click here to consult the article dedicated to this topic.
Under the Special Inks tab, there is a setting to lock the use of gloss. Note that any option you might have under this tab will depend on the Canon controller's license.
Spitbars
Starting with V18.1, a new Spitbars option has been introduced in the Connection tab too:
Info
Spitbars are small ink bars on the edges of each job that help prevent printhead issues, such as clogging or poor ink flow, by keeping them clean and primed between prints.
Please note that enabling spitbars will affect the margins of your jobs, as the driver automatically deducts and reserves enough space for them on the sides of the printout.
Limitations
- To use this driver, your printer must have a controller with firmware R4.0 (or higher).
- Media and resolution-specific parameters can be set only through the EasyMedia module, which means that these parameters are not visible or editable at the last moment in the Print Module Interface. We have an entire article dedicated to media management on these printers, click here to read it.
