Drivers

  Warning

Custom ink setups are chosen when installing the printer itself and cannot be changed afterward. Taking CMYKORGLW and ORGLWCMYK as an example: The installation setup allows, at the same time and in the same printout, either Colors > White and Colors > Varnish with the first driver or White > Colors with the second driver.
Carefully check the driver name and use the correct one for your ink setup, as the layered modes will not work if a driver for another order of ink is used.

Driver history

  • CalderaRIP V17.3
    • Roland SP (VisualCut driver for these devices): Optimization of the cutting order when using "Instant Cutting", as well as the integration of tools configuration (using a VisualCut export).
    • Two new drivers, ORGLWCMYK and ORWWCMYK, were developed for users whose printers have the ink setup outlined in the driver nomenclature.
  • CalderaRIP V17.2
    • Two new drivers, ORPRWCMYK and RPRGLWCMYK, were developed for users whose printers have the ink setup outlined in the driver nomenclature.
  • CalderaRIP V16.2
    • The Roland TrueVIS LG Series is supported since this version

These printers can have different ink setups:

Information about inks

  • Caldera and Roland have different ways of abbreviating the colors, here is the nomenclature:
    • "O" and "Or" = Orange
    • "R" and "Re" = Red
    • "W" and "Wh" = White
    • "GL" and "Gloss" = Varnish
    • "PR" = Primer
  • When printing multilayer, please note that the reciprocal layering order for a given printer must be achieved with 2 jobs and media rewinding.
  • Some setups allow the use of White, Varnish, and/or Primer as Spot Inks. Learn more with this dedicated article.

Tips and Tricks

Immediate Cut is available in the Cutting tab of the Page Setup when selecting the Roland SP cutting driver.
