Information about inks and layers
- Caldera and Roland have different ways of abbreviating the colors, here is the nomenclature:
- "O" and "Or" = Orange
- "R" and "Re" = Red
- "W" and "Wh" = White
- "GL" and "Gloss" = Varnish
- "PR" = Primer
- This device can use white, gloss (varnish), and/or primer as spot inks. To configure them, you need to go to the Page Setup module:
Once there, open the corresponding tab, click on Enable separation, and choose the separation Method that you may require. Click here to learn more. - This device uses a staggered printhead configuration that allows faster bi-layer printing (White > Colors), but it is necessary to print in a reverse vertical direction.

Printer settings
Printer tab
- Check media width: a warning is shown if the media width is smaller than the printed document.
- Automatically continue with next job: By default the printer pauses til a button is pressed on the panel to start the next job. This allows putting the next plate of printable objects before starting the print. If required, you can enable the automatic continuation by checking the box.
- Cure as a second pass: Enabling this option causes jobs to print without curing, and then make a curing pass without printing. This is useful for gloss/varnish quality.
-
Object diameter: Select an object diameter for the rotary loader to select the appropriate print parameters/speed. The "Auto" option will take the print height as a reference.
Info
The Rotary Rack accessory to print around cylindrical objects requires specific printing modes with limited nozzle numbers.
Once installed, you must use a print mode that includes a quality with the prefix “Rotary” and set the diameter with the above option. Not all resolutions can be used with the previous settings. - Show job name on printer panel: Check the box and the job name will appear on the panel, rather than in the print parameters.
- Don't check printer inks: Check the box to not check the printer inks, which may be useful to override an ink configuration.
Media tab
-
Information: at the top of the window, you are able to see information about your media. There you have access to two actions:
- Save: when you click on this button, the current media settings are saved to the selected media profile (printer, media, resolution, mode) so there will be applied for any new job using the same print configuration. If you don't save, the changes you made are only applied to the current job.
- Reload: will revert back to default as set during profiling or the last saved changes.
- Horizontal compensation (%): we recommend not to modify this. Any deviation is likely to be mechanical on the printer's side.
- Vertical compensation (%): this can be useful if you detect an increase or decrease in the length due to heating or media tension which is common when printing on vinyl or textiles for example. To calculate the compensation, click Compute and follow the software’s instructions.
-
Vacuum power: you can choose the vacuum power. Use a predefine state:
- normal
- strong
- off
- or select a percentage
- Space between jobs: space is expressed in centimeters.
Advanced parameters
- Overprint: this performs additional passes to increase ink density. The user can define the amount of overprint layers with a factor between 1 and 3.
Media: Override tab
- Scan Speed: scan speed can only be reduced by specifying the amount in % (in steps of 10%). The value 100% corresponds to the predefined value of selected print mode.
- Feed Speed: 10%-100% by 10% steps. Allows to reduce the feed speed relatively to the print mode.
- Vardot L/M factor: factor between Large and Medium dots.
- Vardot L/S factor: factor between Large and Small dots.
- Vardot max S: maximum percentage of Small dots.
- Vardot max M: maximum percentage of Medium dots.
Media: Comments tab
On this tab you can see comments coming from the EasyMedia module. It can include comments from the global media window and from the profile project window.
Status tab
-
Status: global state of the printer:
- Ready
- Not available
- Printing
All data is coming from the printer, if it is not available, nothing can be displayed.
- Inks: information about the ink configuration and the inks levels in %.
- Media: information about the media loaded on the printer.
- Misc: complementary info about the printer (model, serial number, firmware version).
- Refresh: button to refresh the tab.
