After you have installed Epson Edge Dashboard on your computer and registered your printer, you will have to download media profiles in EMX format and transfer them to this same printer model. This article will guide you through the required steps to be able to print with the correct media settings.
Info
Note that each printer model has its own EMX files, so it's important to know your printer model and have it registered in the EED platform before proceeding with the next steps. Read this article for more details on printer registration.
What is an EMX file?
An EMX file is a single print settings file containing the following information necessary to print properly on commercially available media:
- Print information: Settings for ICC profiles that are used in RIP, the number of passes, the resolution, and so on
- Media settings value: Setting values that the printer uses for each media
Download EMX Files
- Under Printer Operation, select one of the printers you have previously registered:
- Click on the Media Settings tab of your selected printer model:
- Click on to see the list of available EMX files for your printer model.
Good to know
You can narrow the content of the list to only the necessary EMX files by selecting the region, media vendor, and media type, and then clicking Search.
- Select the EMX file to download by checking the box on the left of each file and clicking on Download. You can also Check the checkbox on the left of Media Vendor to select all EMX files displayed on the current page:Click here to check the file locations
- Windows: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Epson\Control Dashboard\PRINTER NAME
- MacOS:/Library/Application Support/Epson/Epson Control Dashboard/PRINTER \NAME
Transfer EMX files to the printer
Now that you have successfully downloaded your EMX files for the registered printer, you can start transferring them to the printer on the EED platform. Once the profiles are downloaded, you can see them on the left side (Source) in the Media Settings Tab.
- Select the Media Settings you want to add to or change on the target printer.
- On the target side, click on the next to the slot that you like to upload the profile to. Preferably, transfer the new profiles to empty slots. Usually, Epson's control panel has 30 slots to store media settings.
Info
You should note that this step is important. Please make sure to choose the right slot to avoid printing with the wrong settings.
- Now, click on Apply.
- You can now import media settings to CalderaRIP by using Automatic or manual synchronization.
Info
The manual option is especially useful when the printer has already profiles installed in the slots and the original EMX files are available (usually on the system that was originally used to install the profiles) or if there are problems installing the Epson Edge Dashboard on the system hosting the CalderaRIP.
Considerations
If a proxy server is active on the network, it may prevent the download of selected media configuration files from Epson's cloud. To enable the Epson Dashboard to download the profiles, please configure the proxy settings in the Preferences pane:
