How to add a cutter?

Information applicable since PrimeCenter V3.0.

Cutters are managed in Settings > Cutters. From this tab you can create/edit/delete cutters.

Create a new cutter

  1. Go to Settings > Cutters tab.
  2. Click on   to add a new cutter.
  3. Configure the settings.
  4. Click Save.

 

Duplicate a cutter

  1. Go to Settings > Cutters tab.
  2. Hover over a cutter in the list. Click   then  Duplicate.

After you configure and save a cutter in your list, some settings are not editable: Manufacturer, Model and Driver.

Settings common to all driver types

Manufacturer

Here you access the list of available cut drivers. You can create up to 10 cutters for each type of cut driver.

You only have access to the driver types assigned to your license.

 

Model

According to the manufacturer you have selected, select your cutter model.

 

Driver

Select the driver that will be used to generate the cut file.

 

Name

Give your cutter a name to easily identify it in the list.

 

Job submission method

Output folder

Select an output folder where the generated cut files will be automatically exported by default.

 

Network*

Cut files are directly exported onto the cutter controller.

*Only for cutters that can be synchronized.

 

Synchronize a cutter

This feature is only available with certain types of cut drivers for cutters equipped with a controller. Refer to the article dedicated to your driver in this section.
  1. Go to Settings > Cutters tab.
  2. Hover over a cutter in the list. Click   then Synchronize.

This action will:

  • Connect PrimeCenter to the cutter controller. The version of the controller will be retrieved and displayed.
  • Fetch the media list from the controller.
  • Fetch the material list from the controller.
  • Automatically associate media and materials if their names are similar. You can manually adjust these associations from the Media tab.
    This automatic association is available from PrimeCenter V2.3.

 

Delete a cutter

Go to Settings > Cutters tab.

Delete one cutter

Hover over a cutter in the list. Click   then  Delete.

 

Delete several cutters

Hover over a cutter in the list. A check box will appear. Select all cutters you want to delete, or click Select all, then click .

 

Find and filter cutters

Go to Settings > Cutters tab.

Search

The search bar allows you to find a device by typing its name or its manufacturer.

 

Previous versions

Before V3.0

You can add and configure generic cutters and Zund cutters in the general settings of PrimeCenter.

  1. Click on Edit menu and choose Settings.

Actions

Quick actions

In the Cutters list, from 3_dots_16px.png or by right-clicking on a cutter, you access several quick actions:

  • Create: create a new cutter.
  • Duplicate: duplicate the selected cutter.
  • Delete: delete the selected cutter.

Zund cutter synchronization

Click on  to synchronize the cutter. This action will:

  • Connect the cutter to PrimeCenter and access the Zund Cut Center controller. The version of the controller will be retrieved.
  • Fetch the media list from the controller.

      Warning - Known issue from ZCC 3.4.3

    The media list can not be synchronized with ZCC 3.4.3. We suggest upgrading your ZCC software to 3.5 or up to be able to have this synchronization again.

  • Fetch the material list from the controller.
  • Automatically associate media and materials if their name are similar. You can manually adjust these associations from the Media tab.
    This automatic association is available from PrimeCenter 2.3.

 

Generic PDF cutter settings

  1. Edit your cutter parameters: enter a Name, select Generic PDF as Type and choose an Output hotfolder where cut files will be saved.

  2. Click Save.

 

Zund cutter settings

  1. Edit your cutter parameters.

    • Name: enter a name for your cutter.
    • Type: select Zund Cut Center.
    • Controller Hostname: enter the IP address or the hostname of the controller.
    • Controller Port: enter the port of the controller.
    • Job submission:
      • Hotfolder: generate cut files into a chosen specific directory.
      • Network: generate cut files directly onto the cutter controller.
    • Add metadata information in ZCC files: choose if you want to add metadata information in cut files or not.

        Warning

      For Add metadata information in ZCC files feature, you need ZCC cutter Version 3.3 or more, and cutter needs to be synchronized.

  2. Click Save.

  3. Click arrow-repeat_orange_16px.png to synchronize the cutter. A message will confirm that the synchronization is a success, and the version of your Zund cutter will be displayed.

Zund Cut Center controller settings

It is important to check your Zund Cut Center software "Options".

It is mandatory to have the ZCC "Queue" option "Active" to be able to use the following features:

  • Hotfolders
  • Time estimation
  • Mail
  • Batch/barcode production

You can check your Products, Options and System info onto your installed Zund Cut Center software.
